Airloom, like other companies operating in Australia, is bound by the National Privacy Principles as set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.
Airloom's collection, use and disclosure of personal information is set out below:
What Personal Information does Airloom collect and why?
Airloom collects personal information about you in order to provide personalised wireless telecommunications and information services.
The personal information you provide to Airloom will enhance the products and services that we offer you.
(i) Purchasing products or services. If you purchase products or services or apply to become an Airloom customer, Airloom requires you to provide certain details so that we can establish an account and provide you with the product or service. This includes details such as your name and contact information, or in the case of businesses, information about the company, department or association making the purchase or setting up the account. Airloom requires this information to help us process and manage your account.
Airloom also requests information to help us assess your credit worthiness, which may include financial information about you, such as details of accounts with financial institutions held by you and information obtained as result of credit checks which you authorise us to carry out. If you purchase a product or service Airloom may also require your credit card details in order to process the purchase. Airloom may also request information about you in order to help you decide which product or service would best suit your needs.
(ii) Paying your account online or making other enquiries about your account. If you pay your account online, Airloom requires you to provide your account details and credit card details in order to process the payment. If you make an online query about your account you will be required to provide your account details, password and contact details so that your inquiry can be resolved as soon as possible.
(iii) General requests. In order to process your request, we will require you to provide us with certain personal information. This includes such details as your name and contact information and information about any existing account. If you send us an email request, we will ask for similar information. We require this information to process your request and to improve the services we provide to you.
When you are carrying out a transaction or simply making a query, Airloom may also ask for information such as details about yourself or your company in order that Airloom can better tailor its services to your needs and to provide you with information about a range of Airloom services you might be interested in. Airloom may also conduct voluntary surveys or request other voluntary information from time to time. These surveys provide Airloom with important information that enables improvement in the types and quality of services offered and the manner in which those services are offered. It will always be clear whether the information requested is mandatory or voluntary.
(iv) Navigation Information Each time you visit Airloom's web site or use the Airloom wireless service, anonymous navigation information is collected by our servers. This information includes:
- the type of browser and operating system you are using; - the address of the sites to visit; - the date and time of your visit; - your server's IP address (a number which is unique to the machine); and - the address of the pages you accessed.
This provides Airloom with information about how the web sites are used and navigated, including the number of hits, the frequency of visits and the duration of visits to each web page on the site. It does not personally identify individual users.
In addition, Airloom' website, like many others, uses cookies. A cookie is a piece of information that the website sends to your browser and which is stored on your hard disk. A cookie helps to identify your browser to the website when you return to visit the site and identifies the previous requests your browser has made. This allows the site to be tailored to you on your return visits. Cookies cannot identify you personally. If you do not wish to receive cookies it is likely that you can disable their use by altering the security settings on your web browser however this may impede your ability to use parts of the site. Your web browser might also contain a mechanism that warns you that a site you are visiting makes use of cookies.
How Airloom may use your Personal Information
The personal information you provide Airloom may be used for a number of purposes connected with our business operations, which include:
- processing your orders or applications; - carrying out credit checking and scoring; - providing you with products and/or services requested; - solving any technical support problems; - billing you or administering your account; - dealing with requests, enquiries or complaints and other customer care related activities; - carrying out market and product analysis and marketing our products and services generally; - contacting you about our products and services; - registering your details and allocating or offering you rewards, discounts or other benefits and fulfilling any requests or requirements you may have in respect of our loyalty or reward programmes and other similar schemes; and - carrying out any activity in connection with a legal, governmental or regulatory requirement on us or in connection with legal proceedings, crime or fraud prevention, detection or prosecution.
We may also use your personal information for purposes related to those described above which would be reasonably expected by you. For example, we may use your personal information to keep you informed about features of our wireless telecommunications services or conducting analysis in order to provide better service to you. To opt-out of receiving certain Airloom marketing materials, please email us at privacy@airloom.com.au. Please note that Airloom will still need to send you essential information about your account or changes to your service.
We will not use your information for purposes other than described above unless we have your consent or there are specified law enforcement or public health and safety reasons.
Sharing your Personal Information
Airloom may disclose or receive personal information or documents about you to/from:
i) credit providers or credit reporting agencies for the purposes permitted under the Privacy Act; ii) law enforcement agencies to assist in the prevention of criminal activities; iii) our service and content providers, agents, independent contractors or any company within the Airloom group for purposes that are related to providing you with a wireless telecommunications service which would be reasonably expected.
Airloom contracts out some services to external service providers. Airloom may disclose your personal information to these organisations but only so that they can provide you with the services that Airloom has contracted out. At all times, parties to which we contract services or disclose your personal information are covered by contracts which protect personal information.
We will share aggregated information, demographic information with our partner organisations and advertisers, which is not linked to any personal information about you. Advertisers on our site may also collect information. We do not have any control over this data collection. This also relates to any cookies they may use.

Our website and the Airloom wireless service may contain links to third party websites outside our website. We are in no way responsible for the privacy and security practices on these sites. They are in no way covered by the policy set out here, and should have their own Privacy and Security Policy contained on their site, which we encourage you to read.
Security and Passwords
Whilst we take every precaution to protect our customer's information, sending personal information over the internet remains entirely at your own risk, and we will not be responsible for any unauthorised use of this information.
It is our customer's responsibility to maintain the security of any password, username you may choose or we may assign. We ask our customer to notify us immediately if they suspect someone else may have unauthorised access to their password, username etc. We will hold customers responsible for any use of our website or services under your password, username etc, including actions you did not approve or authorise yourself.
How to access your Personal Information
Generally you have the right to see or obtain a copy of personal information about you that we may hold. Airloom will handle requests for access to personal information in accordance with the National Privacy Principles.
To request access to your personal information, please contact us at privacy@airloom.com.au.
In some cases we may need time to consider and respond to your request for access. If we need time to consider your request we will acknowledge your request within 14 days and respond within a maximum of 30 days.
If for any reason we refuse to give you access to your information we will let you know why. The circumstances in which we may refuse to give you access to your personal information include where giving you access:
- Would have an unreasonable impact on other peoples privacy - Would prejudice any negotiations we are having with you - Would prejudice an investigation of unlawful activity - Would prejudice activities carried out by or for a law enforcement body
If you believe we hold personal information about you that you consider to be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date you should tell us by emailing the details to privacy@airloom.com.au. In most cases we will amend any inaccurate, incomplete or out of date information. In some cases it is necessary for us to keep a record of what we know or understand to be correct at a particular time. However in those circumstances if you request we will take reasonable steps to associate with the relevant record of your personal information a statement to the effect that you claim the information is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
What to do if you have a problem, question or complaint If you have any further queries relating to our Privacy Policy, or you have a problem or complaint, please contact us at privacy@airloom.com.au. If Airloom becomes aware of any ongoing concerns or problems with customer information, we will take these issues seriously and work to address these concerns.
If Airloom does not resolve a privacy problem to your satisfaction, you can take a complaint further by contacting the Federal Privacy Commissioner's office on 1300 363 992, or visiting www.privacy.gov.au.
Future changes Airloom aims to be the best in the telecommunications industry. That means our business will continue to evolve as we introduce new services and features to our website. Because of this, from time to time, our policies will be reviewed and may be revised. Airloom reserves the right to change its privacy policy at any time and notify you by posting an updated version of the policy on its website.
The amended Privacy Policy will apply between us whether or not we have given you specific notice of any change.
